The 9th Balkanima Festival Opens

The 9th Festival of Animated Film ''Balkananima'' begins today, and fans of animated film will be able to see 120 films in the Cultural centre “Studentski grad”.

This year’s festival will be consist of four main competitive program as well as four student films and film schools programs, as well as two European Film panoramas.

This year Guest Country of Honor is Czech Republic, and in addition to two programs dedicated to Czech authors, which will be introduced by guests - Professors Jiri Kubiček and Pavel Horacek, the main festival will be dedicated to the exhibition of works by the Czech author Jiri Trnka.

The members of the international jury of the main competition program are Jiri Kubiček (Czech Republic), Joško Marušić (Croatia) and Čedomir Vasić (Serbia).

The members of the international jury for student films and film schools competition are Rune Erickson (Norway), Ivan Ramadan (Bosina and Herzegovina) and Miroslav Simonović (Serbia).

The special festival program will showcase the Norwegian puppet film animator Ivo Caprino and will be presented by Rune Erickson from Norway.

Two premieres will be held at late-night screenings -'' Metamorphosis'' by Quay Brothers from the United Kingdom and ''Junod” by Shinciro Kimura from Japan.

The program will be accompanied by an exhibition of drawings and cartoons, as well as a selection from the cinematic oeuvre of one of the judges - Joško Marušić (Croatia). Additionally, a multimedia installation ''I'' by Marija Ilić will be exhibited.

The Festival will be attended by guests from fifteen European countries and two guests from Japan.

The festival, which will last until 6th of October, will be held in five different areas of the Cultural centre “Studentski grad”, and entrance is free.

This event was supported by the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of Republic of Serbia, the Norwegian Embassy in Serbia, the Secretariat of Culture of Belgrade and others.
