7th Serbian Fantasy Film Festival Announcement

At the seventh Serbian Fantasy Film Festival (SFFF), which will take place from 18th to 21st of October 2012 in “Dom omladine” and the Yugoslav Film Archive, in addition to short films from Serbia, films from the countries of former Yugoslavia will for the first time be competing for the “Koskar” award.

70 films from Serbia, Italy, Spain, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia and Canada will be screened at the seventh SFFF.

The guest of honor will be Sergio Stivaletti, the famous Italian master of masks and special effects that made his name working with Dario Argento, Michele Soavi, Lamberto Bava and Roberto Benigni. He is a pioneer is a computer-generated visual effects (CGI).

At this year’s SFFF, the “Koskar” award, a tribute to the famous Hollywood Oscar, in the form of a skeletal statue, will be award for the second year in a row.

The special Pyramid award will go to the best short film on the subject of the apocalypse - according to the motto of this year's festival Apocalypse Now.

15 recently produced Serbian films will be competing for a Koskar in the following categories: (1) best film chosen by the jury (2) best film chosen by the audience (3) best story (4) best visual impression, and (5) special achievement.

At the same time, six films from Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina will compete in a separate category (6) best fiction film from the former Yugoslavia, excluding Serbia.
The winners will be decided by an international jury consisting of Lois Curci, a producer from Italy, Velimir Grgić, journalist and film critic from Croatia and Stevan Filipović, Serbian film director.

Short films Self Portrait (2012) and The Captured Bird (2012) directed by Canadian journalist and film director of Serbian origin, Jovanka Vučković, a longtime editor of the magazine Rue Morgue, and one of the most important women in the horror genre, will be screened at the opening in “Dom omladine”, on 20th of October at 20:00h.
