Serbian Film Festival in Johannesburg

Serbian Film Festival organized by Film Center Serbia was opened on Thursday, 22nd November, in Johannesburg, under the auspices of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Pretoria, and it will last from November 22 to 29.

As part of the opening ceremony members of the Serbian Cultural and Arts Society, "Africa" preformed, Serbian writers and artists who live and work in South Africa were present as well.

Serbia's ambassador in South Africa Goran Vujacic, who is also the person who is most responsible for this presentation of Serbian cinema and culture in general, welcomed the numerous guests, members of the diplomatic corps, our citizens, filmmakers from South Africa and Serbia and announced that such an event will be held much more often than before.

Famous actor Branislav Lecic opened the Serbian Film Festival, followed by the film "Montevideo, Taste of a Dream!", directed by Dragan Bjelogrlic, which has, a few days ago, won the best film award at the prestigious International Festival of sports film in Beijing.

During the following days of the festival audience will be able to see 14 more Serbian films in cinema complex with 15 cinemas, a magnificent edifice "Montekasino".

On Friday, November 23, Serbian candidate for an Oscar in the category of Foreign Language Film, "When day breaks," directed by Goran Paskaljevic, will be presented as well as the following films: “Clip” by Maja Milos, “Tilva Ros” by Nikola Lezajic, “Death of a man in the Balkans” by Miroslav Momcilovic, “Redemption street” by Miroslav Terzic, “Professor Kosta Vujic`s Hat” by Zdravko Sotra, “O Gringo” by Darko Bajic, “Cinema Comunisto” by Mila Turajlic, “Love and Other Crimes” by Stefan Arsenijevic, “The Tour” by Goran Markovic, “Besa” by Srdjan Karanovic, “White Lions” by Lazar Ristovski, “The Trap” by Srdan Golubovic, “A Practical Guide to Belgrade with singing and crying” by Bojan Vuletic.
