The Pre-Festival Programme of the 20th Palić European Film Festival

The pre-festival programme of the 20th Palić European Film Festival will commence on Tuesday, July 2nd, and the “Palić Winners” programme will be screened at the open-air theatre in the very heart of Subotica, on the Sloboda square.

Also beginning on July 2nd, the “Europe and Christianity” programme will be screened at the EuroCinema theatre , while the “Homage to the Winners of the Erste Underground Spirit Award” selection will be screened at the same location on July 6th and 7th.

A mini-concert of the Nomus Festival Orchestra, followed by a screening of the first film by Alfred Hitchcock, “The Lodger: A Story of the London Fog” (1926) will take place on the Sloboda square, in cooperation with the British Council.

The “Palić Winners” programme will last until July 11th. It was established to commemorate two jubilees: 20 years of the Palić European Film festival, and 10 years of it being oriented exclusively towards European films.

10 films that have previously received the Best Film– the Golden Tower – will be screened.

The “Europe and Christianity” programme, taking place from July 2nd to July 5th and showcasing eight films, has been established to contribute to the celebrations of 1700 years of the Edict of Milan.

The film Slow Mirror will be screened at the EuroCinema theatre on Subotica Open University on July 6th, while a selection of shorts and the feature “Without a Rudder” by this year’s Erste Underground Spirit award winners, Igor and Ivan Buharov from Hungary, will be screened a day later.

Entrance to all screenings is free. In case of bad weather, all Sloboda square screenings will take place in the EuroCinema theatre, after the second film has been screened.

The 20th Palić European Film Festival, one of the most renowned film festivals in the region, will take place from July 13th to July 19th 2013 at various locations at the beautiful natural reserve of the Palić lake near Subotica.

The audience will once again have a chance to see Best European films as a part of the Official Selection programme, screened at the Summer Stage, at the center of the rustic Palić lake park, considered to be the most beautiful open-air cinema in Serbia.
