Shooting Stars Awards at the 2014 Berlin Film Festival

On the 10th of February, at a stylish ceremony held at the Berlinale Palast on the Marlene Dietrich Square in Berlin, the Shooting Stars awards were given out. Nikola Rakočević, a young Serbian actor, received his award, donated by the festival’s main sponsor TESiRO, from Bruno Ganz and Stellan Skarsgård.

Shooting Stars is a unique pan-European project aimed at showcasing young talent to the public, the audience, the industry professionals, as well as the media attending the Berlin Film Festival. The ceremony at the Berlinale Palast is the crown of a three-day program over the course of which ten young actors and actresses had a chance to get to know each other and were offered the chance of cooperation with casting agents, media and finally, to meet the Berlinale audience.

Besides Nikola Rakočević, this year’s Shooting Stars include Danica Ćurčić, nominated by the Danish Film Institute, as well as two Romanian actresses and an actor of mixed Norway-Danish ancestry, all of whom have already starred in films co-produced by several European countries. In that regard, the project has proven itself as a truly European effort, not only by choosing talent from all corners of Europe, but also by allowing the young talented actors to star in European co-productions.

The Shooting Stars awards ceremony was televised by several distinguished European TV networks.
