Film Mamaroš in Russian Cinemas

Mamaroš, a film by Momčilo Mrdaković, will be shown in Moscow on Sunday, March 9th, with an opening statement made by Emir Kusturica.

As announced by the director of the film, Mamaroš will then be shown in cinemas across Russia, which is, as the he has stated, a remarkable event, seeing that Hollywood blockbusters rule Russian cinema and that European films and those from other continents are usually pushed to the small screen.

The festival life of Mamaroš continues on March 14th in New York, where the film opens at Rated SR - Socially Relevant Film Festival New York, after which it will take part in the competition program of the Brazilian festival Cinerama (Cinerama BC International Film Festival) taking place from April 8th to 13th.

Mira Banjac, who plays the lead role in the film, has won the two major annual awards in Serbia, from FIPRESCI - Critics Association Award and the Golden prism, awarded by AFUN - Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Serbia.

It is significant that a film that deals with people and events in our recent past in a warm and witty way, is being screened around the world and thus provides a rare opportunity for us and our country to be seen in a positive light, which, as we know, is not often the case, said Mrdaković.
