The Undertaker at the Festival Circuit

Documentary film The Undertaker directed and written by Dragan Nikolić, premiered at IDFA 2013 in Amsterdam. After screenings in Italy, Slovenia and Croatia, the film will continue its festival circuit life in Linz (Crossing Europe Film Festival Linz), Istanbul (TRT Award), Belgrade (Beldocs ) and Schruns (Festival of Contemporary Art Balkans).

The Undertaker is a film about a couple of immigrant workers who return to Serbia and are hired to work at their family funeral home, as second-generation undertakers. A film about how we live and work for the promise of the desired future, while our lives pass us by.

This is the third film by Dragan Nikolić that was selected for the IDFA festival (after Caviar Connection in 2008 and National Park in 2006).
Dragan Nikolić also co-authored  Run Rabbit, Run (2003), which won the first prize at the Cannes Film Festival in the Cinefondasion category and was screened at over 60 international film festivals.

He is also a playwright, with two plays written - Transylvania, and I, an American.

The Undertaker was produced by Prababa production Belgrade in co-production with Germany's ZDF national television, in cooperation with ARTE, and with the participation of the Finnish national broadcaster YLE, Norwegian national broadcaster NRK and Slovenian national television RTV SLO.

The film was financially supported by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia and Film Center Serbia.
