Lifka Award for Mira Banjac and Claude Lelouch

This year, the prestigious award Aleksandar Lifka award at the European Film Festival was given to French director Claude Lelouch and Serbian actress Mira Banjac, while Underground Spirit award will be handed out to French author Edouard Salier.

Lelouch is best known for his film A Man and A Woman, which has won the Palme d'Or at Cannes as well as two Academy Awards - for Best Film and Best Screenplay. 

Mira Banjac is the President of the Council of the Palić European Film Festival, where she has succeeded Branislav Lečić. 

The Lifka has been awarded at the Palić festival since 2000, to film greats from Europe and Serbia, for outstanding contribution to European cinema. 

The award is named after the pioneer of cinema in the region and one of the leading international figures who have worked on popularizing film in the first half of the 20th century.
