Herceg Novi Film Festival Begins

Kanli Tower in Herceg Novi, Montenegro, will once again host the annual Montenegro Film Festival. Its 28th edition will last until August 7th and a number of works by Serbian authors will be screened.

The official program includes The Disobedient by Mina Đukić and Monument to Michael Jackson by Darko Lungulov, while From Zero to Hero by Srdjan Dragojević and Mamula by Milan Todorović will be screened out of competition.

The festival open with the screening of Barbarians the first film written and directed by Ivana Ikić, and awarded at this year’s Karlovy Vary and Palić film festivals.

Montenegrin filmmakers will be represented by the long-awaited film Boys From the Marx and Engels Street by Nikola Vukčević.

The region will be represented by the Croatian film Vis-a-Vis, a low-budget debut by the director Nevio Marasović.

Organizers have announced a total of one hundred films that will, as in previous years, be sorted into four categories of which three are competitive.

The festival selectors are Srdan Golubović (main selection at the Kanli Tower and selection of Festival winners at the fortress Forte Mare), Vlado Perović (documentary) and Stefan Arsenijević (student film).

The president of the Festival is Mr. Stevan Koprivica, and its business director is Mr. Zoran Živković.
