Venice Film Festival Officially Opens

The 71st Venice International Film Festival – Mostra commenced In Venice last night with the premiere of the film Birdman by Alejandro Gonzalez Innaritu, starring Michael Keaton, Edward Norton, Zach Galifankias and Naomi Watts.
During the 11-day festival 50 films will be screened, 20 of them competing for the Golden Lion.

The jury this year is chaired by French film score composer Alexandre Desplat, marking the first time that the position was taken neither by a director nor an actor, since the festival was founded in 1932.

This year Serbia has two representatives in this prestigious festival.
The debut film Nobody's Child (production: Art & Popcorn and Baboon Production, Serbia) written and directed by Vuk Ršumović was chosen for the selection of 29th International Film Critics Week, an independent competition program, while the Croatian film These Are the Rules, written and directed by Ognjen Sviličić (co-production: MaXima Film, Croatia; KinoElektron, France; Biberche, Serbia and Trice Films, Macedonia) will be screened in the Horizons competition program.
