THE HOUSE

Jovan, an architect of Serbian origin who has spent most of his life in Berlin, survives a heart attack and finds himself under increasing pressure from his daughter to move into a retirement home. Before making this life-changing decision, he sets off with his grandson Nikola - whom he barely knows - to his native village on Stara Planina Mountain to sell the family estate and finally close the last unresolved chapter of his past. But returning home, he uncovers far more than memories. Jovan discovers that his birthplace is under threat from an investor, backed by a corrupt system, who plans to destroy what remains of the village and its way of life. As long-buried family secrets begin to surface, grandfather and grandson become drawn into the villagers' fight, confronting choices that will forever change their understanding of family, identity, and belonging.
