Haunted by a personal loss and suffocated by the constraints of a totalitarian society, a young artist named Toma escapes down a vast river in search of a purer existence. Reaching a remote island, he turns nature into his only canvas, convinced that absolute solitude will free his art - until isolation begins to dismantle the very self he hoped to preserve.
