Bač Fortress

The fortress in Bač is the most important and best preserved medieval fortress in Vojvodina. The site where the fortress is built testifies to centuries long use of this naturally tenable ground which tied its fate to the Danube River – a natural border between nations and civilizations.

Golubac Fortress

Golubac Fortress was built at the entrance of the Iron Gate gorge, a place where the Danube’s widest stream flows into a pass of the Carpathian Mountains. In historical sources Golubac Fortress is mentioned for the first time in 1335 as a fortification housing Hungarian military garrison.

Valja prerast, the biggest natural stone bridge in Serbia with the span of 150 m, Majdanpek

Better than the best architect, nature designed Valja Prerast, a stone bridge without pillars. This largest natural bridge in Serbia, with its 44.8 meters in height, 9.7 m wide at the bottom and about 150 m span, is a unique example of natural construction that shows the forces of nature.

New fortress was built in 1483, at order of sultan Bayazit II, which became important stronghold in Ottoman defense line against Hungary.

 

 

Mountain Zlatibor

Zlatibor is a mountain of plateau type, it is undulating landscape clearly different from its surrounding. By these high and steep slopes, Zlatibor is separated from its surroundings into individual morphological whole, with special geographical characteristics.

 

 

Petrovaradin Fortress

On a rocky cliff at the base of Fruska Gora, at the site of today’s fortress from ancient times there were military forts, and the latest archaeological studies show that the history of this locality originates more than 200 thousand years ago.

 

 

Kazan Gorge

The Đerdap gorge is unique in Europe for its beauty and size. It is created hundreds of thousands years ago, when the Carpathian massive had split, and the Pannonia Sea entered the gap. Over time, the sea has disappeared, and today the Danube flows through this canyon 130km long. From Veliki Kazan, the river flows to Mali Kazan, around 300m wide and surrounded by steep cliffs.
