The short film Over the Threshold directed by Tara Gajović was selected for the La Cinef program of the 79th International Film Festival in Cannes, dedicated to the best student films from around the world. This year’s La Cinef program consists of 19 films selected from 2,750 applications from film schools around the world.
Over the Threshold is Tara Gajović’s graduate film, produced by the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade, under the mentorship of Professor Srdan Golubović.
The film follows the story of two teenagers who, after three months of dating, find out they are expecting a child and decide to keep it out of love. The plot is focused on the day of the wedding and their escape from the customs that are beginning to suffocate them. The main roles are played by Zoja Klinko and Stefan Nikolić, while the other roles are played by Milica Janevski, Dobrila Ćirković, Vahid Džanković and Bojan Dimitrijević.
The director of photography is Nađa Stanišić, editor Neda Živanović, producer Nikola Uzelac, set designer Vanja Matasarević, costume design by Smiljka Babić and Jelena Stanišić, sound design by Aleksa Nikolić, and color correction by Milica Drakulić.
The film was supported at the competition of the Film Center of Serbia.
