The feature-length documentary film Wheels of Forgotten Dreams, directed by Miloš Ljubomirović and Danilo Lazović, will have its world premiere on June 19th as part of the competition program at the Shanghai International Film Festival.

The film was included in the selection of the Golden Goblet Award Documentary Competition, in which only five documentaries from around the world are competing for awards this year. The films have elicited great interest, with all three festival screenings being sold out on the first day of ticket sales.

Wheels of Forgotten Dreams follows three highly educated people from Serbia – an actress, a painter and an engineer – who have immigrated to the United States in search of a better life and became long haul truck drivers. Spending years living on America’s highways, they remain ever between two worlds, facing the challenges of integration, nostalgia and the eternal search for the American dream that often remains elusive.

The film was produced by Servia Film, in co-production with Cinnamon Films and Dok 33 from Serbia, Arthouse Blockbusters from Bulgaria and Ironing Dreams from Croatia. It was produced with the support of the Film Center Serbia, the Bulgarian National Film Fund and the Croatian Audiovisual Center. The production was also supported by Serbian companies from Chicago, including Delta Freight Systems.

The screenplay was written by the director Miloš Ljubomirović with Danilo Lazović. The director of photography is Aleksandar Ramadanović S.A.S., editors are Dragan von Petrović and Rajko Ristanović, while the music is composed by Dušan Strajnić Dukat and Luka Grubišić-Čabo. Sound design and mixing is by Vladislav Boyadjiev, and color correction by Jurica Marković.

The producers of the film are Miloš Ljubomirović, Danilo Lazović, Boris Despodov and Bojan Kanjera, while the executive producers are Srđan Kostić, Nevena Savić, Ivica Vidanović and Dušan Ljubomirović.

The Shanghai International Film Festival is on the FIAPF “A” list of international film festivals, along with Cannes, Berlin, Venice, Locarno and San Sebastian, therefore the films’ inclusion in the official competition will come with significant international recognition for the authors and Serbian cinematography.
