GOLDEN CUT 42 (CHILDREN OF KOZARA)

Amid the collapse of Yugoslavia in 1941, under the patronage of Nazi Germany, the Croatian Nazi regime – the Ustashe – establishes the Independent State of Croatia, within which it establishes Jasenovac, a death camp where men, women, and children are murdered face to face by their executioners. Through the intertwined perspectives of victims and perpetrators, director Lordan Zafranović explores the anatomy of evil. Serbs, Jews, Roma, and Croatian antifascists perish at the hands of eight Ustasha killers. One of them briefly rebels, only to become a victim of the evil he serves.
