The thirty-second Sarajevo Film Festival will be held from August 14th to 21st, and this year’s festival will feature 23 films produced or co-produced in Serbia, across various festival programs. In the competition programs for the Heart of Sarajevo awards, there are ten films in which Serbia participated as a country of production or co-production, while the rest will be shown in different programs of the festival.
A total of 1,215 films were submitted for this year’s edition of the Sarajevo Film Festival, and the selectors selected 51 films in four competition programs that will compete for the Heart of Sarajevo awards. Competition programs include feature films, documentaries, short films and student films.

Three films with produced in Serbia will be shown in the Competition Program – Feature Film. These are the 17 directed by Kosara Mitić, a co-production between North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia, then Everything That is Wrong With You by Urša Menart, co-produced by Slovenia, Germany and Serbia, as well as Small Things by Zvonimir Jurić, a Croatian-Slovenian-Serbian co-production.

Serbia is represented in the documentary film competition program with three productions. The film To Hold a Mountain by Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić was co-produced by Serbia, France, Montenegro, Slovenia and Croatia. The film Dear Orchid by Hana Selena Sokolović, a co-production of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia and the Netherlands, as well as the documentary film The Forbidden Aunt by Bojana Novaković, produced by Serbia and Australia, will also be shown in this program.

Serbia also has a representative in the competition program – a narrative short film, in which the film Nobody Said Anything by Tamara Todorović, co-produced by Serbia, France, Slovenia and Croatia, will be shown.

Three films from Serbia are participating in the Competition Program – Student Short Film. These are Sara Ećimović’s Sisters, Dan Grabnar’s Neighbor and Tara Gajović’s Over the Threshold. Over the Threshold will also be screened in the TeenArena program.

In addition to the films competing for the Heart of Sarajevo awards, the film Yugo Goes to America by Filip Grujić and Aleksa Borković, produced by Serbia and Croatia, will be shown out of competition as part of the documentary program.

Serbian film indutstry will be represented in other programs of the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival. The Open Air Premiere program will feature the films Hidden People, a co-production of Slovenia, Serbia and Iceland, Coke, a Croatian-Serbian co-production, Virus of Pathological Kindness by Predrag Ličina, a co-production of Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as 3 Weeks After, a co-production of Serbia, Bulgaria, Italy, Croatia and Luxembourg.

Films with Serbian participation will also be represented in The Béla Tarr in Sarajevo Tribute programs, where Wings and Ground and Who The Fuck Are You will be shown, then in the Vienna Triangle – Sarajevo Film Festival program, with the film Hysterical Fit of Laughter, as well as in the Dealing with the Past program, in which The Doctor will be shown.

Midnight Screenings will feature the film A Crack in the Ice, while film Imaginary Numbers will be shown in the children’s program. The film Promised Spaces, a co-production of France, Germany, Serbia and Cambodia, will be shown in the In Focus program, while the film Our Father, a Serbian-Bosnian-Herzegovinian co-production, is included in the BH Film – Feature Films program.

This year’s Sarajevo Film Festival, one of the most important film festivals in the region, will be an opportunity to present current productions from Serbia through various program units – from competitive programs and the fight for the Heart of Sarajevo awards, to festival selections dedicated to contemporary film, young authors, documentary film and special program topics.
