Frost, a new feature film by director Pavle Vučković, will be screened at the Lund Fantastic Film Festival in Sweden, which takes place from October 28th to November 4th 2026. The film is competing for the Méliès d’Argent Award, which is awarded to the best European fantasy feature film.

The Méliès d’Argent Award is awarded by the European Federation of Fantasy Film Festivals, and its winners gain the right to compete for the Méliès d’Or award, intended for the best European fantasy film of the year.

The plot of the film follows a rational and emotionally restrained police inspector who comes to an isolated Serbian village to investigate the disappearance of a young woman. In an area where pagan traditions, black magic and lore have deeply roots, the investigation that initially rests on evidence and facts gradually grows into an exploration of phenomena that are difficult to explain with reason alone.

At the center of the disappearance is an intimate and forbidden relationship, linked to local beliefs. The film begins as a police thriller, gradually developing into a mystery story that combines elements of folk fiction, forbidden desire and the limits of rational explanation.

Frost was filmed in Belgrade, in the village of Braćevac in eastern Serbia, on the Kosmaj mountain and the village of Babe during September and October 2024. The main producer is Plan 9 from Serbia. ORWO/Black Hangar Studios from Great Britain, Film District from Serbia, Telekom Srbija, Parangal Film from Montenegro, Black Cat Production from North Macedonia, Telefilm from Croatia, Sinerent (CinneRent) and Art and Popcorn from Serbia, as well as Vega Film and Vesna Film from Russia participated in the co-production.

The film was supported by the international development funds MEDIA and “Eurimages Development Fund”, Film Center Serbia, the Ministry of Culture of Serbia through the incentive program for film projects, as well as Film Center Montenegro, the Film Agency of North Macedonia and the Croatian Audiovisual Center.
