Young Serbian actor Jovan Ginić has won the El Gouna Star award for the best actor for his role in the film 3 Weeks After directed by Miroslav Terzić, at the ninth edition of the El Gouna Film Festival in Egypt. This is another step on this film’s successful festival journey, which has so far won several international and regional awards.
In the explanation of the award, it was pointed out that Ginić “keeps the fear and anxiety of his character just below the surface, showing exceptional acting control and subtly conveying a story that shocks and horrifies.”
The film 3 Weeks After follows a group of high school students who, three weeks after the tragic loss of a school friend, go on a previously planned school trip. During the journey, they face questions of responsibility, silence, peer violence and collective guilt. Inspired by real events, the film deals with the consequences of a tragedy that society failed to prevent.

The main roles are played by Jovan Ginić, Anđela Alavirević, Klara Karaulić and Andrija Marković, along with Tihana Lazović Trifunović and Branislav Trifunović.
The film has received accolades on multiple occassions: the Europa Cinemas Label award for the best European film at the 60th International Film Festival in Karlovy Vary, as well as three Golden Arenas at the Pula Film Festival – Miroslav Terzić for best direction, Vladimir Arsenijević for best screenplay and Marko Ferković for best editing. Terzić also won the best director award at the KineNova International Film Festival in Skopje, while Arsenijević won the Golden Mimosa for the screenplay at the Herceg Novi Film Festival, which he shared equally with Miho Hočevar and Srđan Koljević.
The film was produced by the Belgrade-based This and That Productions, and was realized with the support of Film Center Serbia, the Cineworld Fund of Luxembourg, the National Film Center of Bulgaria, the Ministry of Culture of Italy, the Croatian Audiovisual Center and the Creative Europe MEDIA program.
