Two films have been submitted to the FCS for the selection of the Serbian candidate for the 98th Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Award – the Oscar, in the category for the best international film in 2025. They are Pearl Mist directed by Milorad Milinković and Sun Never Again, directed by David Jovanović.
After viewing both films on September 2, 2025, the commission decided to announce its decision on
September 24th. The reason for this is the fact that both films begin their commercial cinema distribution in September, and this is one of the conditions of the American Academy for the film to be considered for this prestigious award. The committee concluded that it is expedient to wait for the fulfillment of that condition according to the rules of the American Academy, especially since both films meet all other prescribed requirements.
