The feature-length documentary film The Mountain directed by Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić will have its world premiere on January 26th, 2026 at the Sundance Film Festival.

The project was developed at the DOKSrbija workshop, and received the support of Film Center Serbia under the working title “The Last Nomads”. Its premiere will be in the prestigious World Cinema Documentary Competition at the Sundance Film Festival. Within this program, ten of the bravest and most exceptional contemporary documentary films from around the world are presented.

In the mountains of Montenegro, a mother and daughter proudly defend the nomadic herding tradition and their mountain from becoming a NATO military training ground, facing violence against women and nature.

The author’s team consists of directors and screenwriters Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić, director of photography Eva Kraljević, editor George Craig, composer Draško Adžić, sound designer Julij Zornik, while Emil Svetlik was in charge of color correction. Executive producers are Megan Gelstin and Bjanka Oana, as well as producers Biljana Tutorov, Petar Glomazić, Quentin Loran and Rok Biček, co-producer Dijana Cetina Mlađenović and associate producer Veliša Popović.

In addition to the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia and Film Center Serbia, the film was also supported by the French CNC, Croatian Audiovisual Center – HAVC, Slovenian Film Center, RTV Slovenia, Film Center of Montenegro, EURIMAGES, Chicken & Egg Films, Catapult Film Fund, Point North Institute / Diane Weyermann Fellowship, InMaat, IDA Enterprise Grant, PACA Region France Sud, Uniqa See Future Foundation, Doc Society Climate Story Fund.

Some of the Serbian films shown at this prestigious festival were Circles by Srdan Golubović, the Disobedient by Mina Đukić, The Witch Hunters by Rasko Miljković, A Good Wife by Mirjana Karanović and the minority Serbian co-production DJ Ahmet by Georgi M. Unkovski, which had its world premiere in January of this year.

The Sundance Film Festival will take place from January 22nd to February 1st, 2026. The most important independent film festival in the United States, it provides an opportunity for promising auteur, documentary and independent filmmakers to promote their projects and attract the attention of the general public. Some of today’s most respected directors, including Quentin Tarantino, Paul Thomas Anderson and Darren Aronofsky, have had their breakthrough at Sundance.
