On Tuesday, October 28th, 2025, at the Yugoslav Cinematheque, the “Crystal Koala” award was presented to director Miroslav Lekić, whose film The Russian Consul was declared the winner of the 22nd Serbian Film Festival in Australia.
The festival was held from March 16th to March 30th this year in six major Australian cities – Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth – and the winner was chosen by audience votes.
The award and a cash sum of 1,000 euros were presented to the author by the ambassador of Australia in Belgrade, Mr. Peter Truswell.
The festival is organized by the Serbian Film Festival Inc. based in Sydney. During the past 22 years more than 140 films of contemporary Serbian production have been screened aat the festival and it has hosted a large number of local directors, actors and producers.
