THESE ARE THE RULES (minority coproduction)

Ivo is a bus driver in his fifties. His wife Maja is at home because she has problems with high pressure. Darija is their daughter in early puberty. Their son Tomica is about to graduate. They live in working suburb of harbour city Rijeka. Ivo is gentle, quite, Maja is louder, always fighting for something. One day their son Tomica comes home all beaten up. They go to doctor, doctor sends boy home. Same night he collapses. They go to hospital. Tomica has to stay there, it seems that injuries are more serious than doctor thought. Ivo and Maja are scared, they feel helpless. Maja wants to call the police, Ivo thinks is better to stay quiet. Tomica's Friend from school appears with video on his mobile phone where three kids are beating Tomica. Maja thinks that she recognizes one of the boys. They go to police, but police doesn't help. They are compassionate but they say that video is not an evidence, and that sort of things happens every day. In fact they don't give a damn about this poor people. Maja feels humiliated and takes it on poor Ivo. Ivo feels that he has to prove himself so he goes in front of the school trying to find a boy that has beaten his soon. He doesn't find him. He just stay in front of the school, watching. Tomica condition in hospital got worse and he needs operation. All family is waiting in the hospital. Ivo is having an emotional breakdown. Operation is successful. They go back home, continuing their normal lives, but now they have learned to appreciate it more. Because of all this they are more connected then they where before. Family survives.
