The 49th Film Screenplay Festival in Vrnjačka Banja, Serbia, will be held from August 12th to 16th and the call for films is open – submissions must be registered no later than July 1st.
Vrnjačka Banja film script festival is the longest-running cultural manifestation in the town of Vrnjačka Banja and among the oldest film festivals in Seriba. In the previous 48 editions of this Festival, over 500 films have been shown in the competition program.
Screenings were once held on the Summer Stage (old building) and in 1988 they were moved to the new Amphitheater. The Film Screenplay Festival is aimed at promoting the craft and art of film screenplay writing, with a clear conception and intention – treating the film screenplay as the basis and key ingredient of filmmaking, with the aim highlighting its importance and providing the appreciation it rightly deserves. With that approach, the festival earned asignificant place in the history of Yugoslav cinematography.
It is not an exaggeration to say that since the creation of Vrnjačka Banja FIlm Screenplay Festival, screenplays and sreenwriters in Serbia have gained more respect and appreciation than ever before, as film authors on par with directors and producers.
