At the upcoming 31st Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF), which takes place from August 15th to August 22nd 2025, two films by Serbian authors will be screened as part of the Short Film Competition Program, both as regional premieres: Hysterical Fit of Laughter, directed by Dušan Zorić and Matija Gluščević, and Upon Dawn directed by Stefan Ivančić.

Hysterical Fit of Laughter will have its world premiere right before the festival in Sarajevo, at the Locarno Film Festival. It follows Sneža – a woman who engages in rough games with men, while her son tries to spoil her fun.

The main role is played by the Croatian actress Snježana Sinovčić-Šiškov, while Momir Milošević, Radivoj Knežević, Alex Elektra, Strahinja Marković and Bojana Lazić play supporting roles.

The film is directed by Dušan Zorić and Matija Gluščević, known for their award-winning work on Have You Seen This Woman? The producers are Čarna Vučinić and Damjan Knežević from the production company NAKED, with co-production by Tena Gojić (DINARIDI FILM).

Upon Dawn, by Stefan Ivančić will be screened in the competition for the “Heart of Sarajevo” award. The film tells the story of a single mother who, after losing her job, tries to survive by engaging in petty internet scams.

The main role is played by Milica Janevski, and the film also stars Radmila Tomović, Milica Stefanović, Dimitrije Baranov and Nadežda Đermanović.

The film was produced by Čarna Vučinić of Non-Aligned Films (Serbia), in cooperation with Volta Producción (Spain), Staragara Production (Slovenia) and Antitalent Production (Croatia). The producers are also Dragana Jovović and Ognjen Glavonić, and the film is supported by Film Center Serbia, the Secretariat for Culture of the City of Belgrade and the Creative Europe – MEDIA program.

The film had its international premiere at this year’s Rotterdam Film Festival.
