The official Serbian candidate for the Academy Award in the Best International Feature Film category, David Jovanović’s Sun Never Again, had a special screening in London as part of the Screen International program intended for members of the American Film Academy.
After the event, director David Jovanović pointed out that the London screening was extremely successful: “It was wonderful. The members of the Academy said a lot of great things that I should not convey. The London premiere was a really great promotion of the culture of our country, through film, food and music. And don’t forget: every night go to bed with a thought – now Serbia is getting an Oscar.”

The London-based sales and production company Reason8 Films is in charge of international film rights.
Sun Never Again follows Vid, a father who struggles to protect his home and family as a massive multinational mining project threatens to engulf his village – and his house literally hangs over the edge of a collapsing pit. Through the eyes of his young son, Dule, who fills the harsh reality with fairy tales, mysticism and hope, the film becomes a poignant story of endurance, imagination and the struggle for survival. The roles in the film are played by Dušan Jović, Rastko Racić, Nataša Marković, Radovan Miljanić and Joakim Tasić, while Svetozar Cvetković plays the role of God.
The world premiere of the film was held at the end of last year at the International Film Festival in Tallinn, and the Serbian premiere took place at the 30th Author’s Film Festival (Believe in Yourself award as part of the Brave Balkans selection). The film was also crowned with a number of international awards, including the student jury award at the L’Europe autour de l’Europe festival in Paris, a honorable mention in the Glocal Images selection at the Cyprus Film Days festival, as well as the best debut award for director David Jovanović at the First Balkan Film Directing Festival. Svetozar Cvetković won the Grand Charter of Leotar for the best male role at the Mediterranean and European Film Festival in Trebinje.

The film is the graduate work of David Jovanović, realized in co-production with the Faculty of Dramatic Arts and the production company Pointless Films.
