The 13th Kraljevo Film Festival (KFF) officially commences on Thursday, August 22nd, at 5 PM in the KVART Multimedia Center in Kraljevo, Serbia. During the first day of the festival, the audience will have the opportunity to watch eight premiere films, including the documentary Actually, I Didn’t Want to Stay Long by German director Andreas Gruzner, who will be a guest of the festival on that occasion. In addition to him, the audience will have a chance to meet the author Zlatko Milojičić with the film The Bomber, which just a few days ago had its world premiere in Portland, where it recieved an award.
During the three days of the festival, 24 short films from all over the world will be screened. They will compete for a total of six awards: awards for the best film in the international and domestic competition, awards for best editing, sound design and music, as well as the award of the young jury.
A special program of the festival consists of an exclusive masterclass dedicated to the art of editing and shaping the narrative in a documentary film, which will be held by one of the most prominent Austrian documentary film editors – Gernot Grassl. The masterclass is scheduled for Saturday, August 23rd, at MMC KVART, from 1 to 6 PM. The program is realized in cooperation with the Austrian Association of Editors (AEA) and with the support of the Austrian Cultural Forum, and the lecture will be in English.
During his illustrious career, Gernot Grassl worked on notable achievements in Austrian and international documentaries. His editing signature is behind the films of Nikolaus Geierhalter (Melt, The Standstill, The Border Fence), Werner Bute (The Green Lie, Everything Is Under Control), as well as the film The Spies Among Us, which premiered at the SXSW 2025 festival. The Masterclass represents a unique opportunity for professionals, students and film enthusiasts in Serbia to get to know first-hand the experiences of one of the leading European editors and contemporary trends in the field of documentary film.
The festival will be closed on Sunday, August 24th, at 7:30 PM at the Evergreen Club, with a screening of the feature-length documentary film Black Ljubivoje directed by Predrag Velinović.
