The film Wind, Talk to Me directed by Stefan Đorđević won the main award for the best film at this year’s 23rd Zagreb Film Festival, held from November 10th to 16th in Zagreb, Croatia.
The jury awarded the film “for an honest, authentic and careful insight into a deeply emotional family drama that, instead of relying on conventional dramatic devices, uses an evocative soundscape and lyrical visuals to create a cinematic song.”
This recognition is among the many awards the film has won around the world. Wind, Talk to Me has already triumphed at festivals such as Bolzano Film Festival (Italy), Guanajuato (Mexico), Sarajevo Film Festival, CineFest Miskolc (Hungary), as well as festivals in Vancouver, Valdivia, Lima, Luxembourg and Cyprus. Director of photography Marko Brdar was awarded for the best camera at an international festival in Cyprus.
The film was co-produced by Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia, and was produced by Dragana Jovović and the production company Non-Aligned Films. The producers are Stefan Ivančić, Ognjen Glavonić and Stefan Đorđević (Katunga), while the co-producers are Vanja Jambrović (Restart, Croatia), Jožko Rutar (SPOK Films, Slovenia) and Miha Černec (Staragara, Slovenia). The project was supported by Film Center Serbia, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, the Media Fund of the European Union, the Slovenian Film Center, Viba Film, the Croatian Audiovisual Center and the Vision Sud Est fund.

Inspired by the director’s personal experiences, the film follows Stefan, who returns home for the first time after his mother’s death to celebrate his grandmother’s birthday. His return turns into an intimate journey of healing as he works with his family to finish work on his mother’s trailer. The film stars members of his family, as well as his dog Lia.
The Serbian premiere of the film will be held on November 26th in Belgrade, as part of the competition program of the 31st Author’s Film Festival.
