The film Wind, Talk to Me, directed by Stefan Đorđević, won the award for the best film and the audience award at the international film festival Novos Cinema Pontevedra in Spain, which marked its tenth anniversary this year.
The Novos Cinema Festival is dedicated to the promotion of bold auteur films and the discovery of new domestic and international voices that nurture innovative and contemporary film approaches.
In explaining the decision, the jury of the festival stated that the film is a “Balkan elegy whose frequencies resonate strongly in the Galician context, but whose human and aesthetic reach becomes universally understandable to every community”. The jury especially points out the film as a subtle but powerful visual text, with a pronounced political, ecological and pacifist subtext, in which listening to the wind appears as a metaphor for openness, community and pantheistic spirituality.

Inspired by the director’s personal experiences, the film follows Stefan who, for the first time after the death of his mother Nece, returns home to celebrate his grandmother’s birthday with his family. The desire to finish a film about a mother and help an injured dog turns into an intimate journey towards healing. The film stars members of the director’s family: Negrica Đorđević, Stefan Đorđević, Boško Đorđević, Đorđe Davidović, Budimir Jovanović, Ljiljana Jovanović, Marina Davidović, Vidak Davidović, Ana Petrović, Jana Mihajlović, Jakov Mihajlović, as well as the dog Lija.
“Winds, talk to me” has so far won numerous awards around the world, including the Grand Prize for the best film at the Bolzano Film Festival, the prize for the best international feature film at the Guanajuato International Film Festival, the Grand Prize at the Sarajevo Film Festival, the Vanguard Prize at the International Film Festival in Vancouver, as well as the Grand Prix at the CinEast Festival in Luxembourg. On the regional scene, the film was declared the best at the Zagreb Film Festival, while Stefan Đorđević was awarded for the best director at the Author’s Film Festival in Belgrade.

The film was co-produced by Serbia, Slovenia and Croatia. The producer is Dragana Jovović (Non-Aligned Films), along with the producers Stefan Ivančić, Ognjen Glavonić and Stefan Đorđević, while the co-producers are Vanja Jambrović (Restart, Croatia), Jožko Rutar (SPOK Films, Slovenia) and Miha Černec (Staragara, Slovenia).
The project is supported by Film Center Serbia, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia, the MEDIA Fund of the European Union, the Slovenian Film Center, the Croatian Audiovisual Center and the Vision Sud Est fund. The film also participated in the industrial programs Les Arcs Work in Progress and First Cut Lab RE-ACT, where it won additional awards.
