The 25th MEDFILM festival of Mediterranean culture in Rome has wrapped up, and the award for the best short film was won by the multiple-award winning short Autumn Waltz by Ognjen Petković.

The film tells a story about a married couple trying to escape out of war torn city in their car, using  country roads. On their way to freedom stands a roadblock manned by enemy soldiers.

The film project was awarded funds by Film Center Serbia in December 2017, with the following opinion: “The project promises a fresh, original and exciting point of view on recent civil wars in the region, a perspective that is less interested in the political, national and realistic, focusing more on the universal, through the fate of an individual.”

Ognjen Petković wrote the screenplay, and is also the director and the editor.
