Serbian director Ognjen Glavonić, a participant in the first edition of the Ponta Lopud Festival in 2021, was chosen as the first director who will spend four weeks in the fall of this year at the residence for artists on the island of Lopud, where he will work on the development of a new feature film. A three-member panel from the world of the film industry chose director Ognjen Glavonić based on the quality of his new project In the Shadow of the Horns. The project was also supported by Film Center Serbia, one of the partners of the Ponta Lopud Festival.

The Ponta Lopud Film Festival, in cooperation with the Residency for Artists program of the Lopud Foundation, provided support to young regional film professionals, participants of previous editions of the Ponta Lopud Festival, in their further professional development. As part of the Lopud Foundation Artist Residency program, selected participants get a unique opportunity to fully focus on working on their new film projects in the silence and beauty of Lopud Island.

The synopsis of Glavonić’s film reads as follows: High school student Vuk, a metalhead from a small Banat village, tries to record an album with his black metal band and maintain a shaky friendship with Igor. Through various adventures and problems that accompany them together, they learn how to deal with anger, doubts, fears, but also prejudices of the environment in which they live – a community that hides deep secrets.

Ponta Lopud Film Festival is a new form of small film festival and creative hub that brings together the creatives from the regional film industry and offers an opportunity for knowledge acquisition, creative meetings, exchange of experiences and business networking in one place. Master courses and lectures by the world’s top film professionals, relaxed film discussions and screenings of film classics are designed primarily as inspiration and support for the development of new film talents and projects in the region.

The Ponta Lopud Festival announces a competition for participation in the Residency program for artists of the Lopud Foundation twice a year. The next competition will be opened during this year’s edition of the festival from June 20 to 24, 2023.
