The Perspectives programme of the 49th Rotterdam International Film Festival (January 22nd – February 2nd) will feature the short film Dreamland by Canadian author Alan Brown, produced as part of the residency program at Alternative Film / Video in Belgrade organized by the Academic Film Center of the Student City Cultural Center in New Belgrade.

Dreamland is an unusual experimental journey, through imaginary images taken in Serbia that are intertwined with the author’s art montage approach, and recordings of northern Canada (Canadian Shield area), with hypnotic and paranoid audio frequencies about alien invasion. This movie had its world premiere at last year’s March Festival. The author hails from the Canadian province of Quebec and has produced more than 25 short experimental films and one feature film (Silver), which were screened at the most renowned experimental and avant-garde film festivals and festivals.

The film screening is part of a conference of Kino Climates Network of Independent European Cinemas, of which  DKSG Academic Film Center in New Belgrade is a member. This network was created at the initiative of the Nova Cinema in Brussels, exactly a decade ago at the same venue, the Rotterdam Film Festival, and to date has brought together over 30 independent cinemas. After 10 years, the network members have established cooperation and jointly held several conferences (the last one was at the Student City Cultural Center in Belgrade in February 2019), debates and screenings. The DKSG Academic Film Center will have its representatives at the Climates Cinema Conference – Aleksa Hadži-Djokić and Milan Milosavljević.
