Almost three years after its world premiere at the official program of the Berlin Film Festival, the Serbian feature film Father directed by Srdan Golubović was crowned with the “Golden Rooster” award in the category of the best foreign film in China, announced The Match Factory from Cologne, which holds the film’s world rights. This award is the Chinese equivalent to the USA Academy Awards and the winners are decided by a jury consisting of filmmakers, film experts and film historians. The “Golden Rooster” has been awarded since 1981.

Father, whose production was supported by Film Center Serbia, is a film about a man whose children were taken away due to poverty, a loser, a rejected and humiliated man, who walks from his village in the south of Serbia to Belgrade, out of protest, dignity, the desire to prove to himself and others, out of desperation – becoming a hero in the process.
