The 21st edition of the Films Front International Short Feature Film Festival will take place from October 26th to 29th in the Cultural Center of Novi Sad. The people of Novi Sad will have the opportunity to watch over sixty short films, and admission to all screenings will be free.
During the four days of the festival, the audience will have the opportunity to watch the competition selections from Serbia/region as well as the International selection, but also to enjoy the accompanying program that brings animated films from the region, horror films from around the world, Front special films, and the Novi Sad premiere of the documentary film “Without” directed by Luka Papić.
The winner of the regional selection will be decided by an expert jury consisting of director Mina Đukić and directors Luka Papić and Siniša Cvetić. The winner of this selection will receive a prize of 100,000 dinars, which the festival awards in cooperation with Film Center Serbia. In addition to the screenings, a masterclass program will be organized by director Luka Papić. titled “How and why to write a screenplay for non-fictional forms?”. During all festival days, the audience will have the opportunity to visit the exhibition of animated graphics by Victor Jan, “TR-ART-SPAREN-TAN” in the hall of the Cultural Center of Novi Sad. All films of the competitive selection, both domestic and foreign productions, will be subtitled, and thus adapted to deaf and hard-of-hearing people.
“As for the Serbia/region selection, they are mostly films by young authors, and the problems of growing up are still in focus, although there are also bold blurrings of genre lines. Regarding the International Selection, thematically we can note that a significant number of films problematize the position of women, both in strongly patriarchal cultures and in the conditions of liberal capitalist societies. Then there are personal dramas, two reflections on the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, echoes of the covid pandemic and the migrant crisis…” said selector Filip Markovinović.
