Film Center Serbia is the lynchpin of promotion of Serbian cinematography at the Cannes Festival 2025.
FCS has prepared a special publication in which the entirety of Serbian film production is presented for easy reference – from films that will soon become available for the international and domestic markets to box office numbers and presence at festivals.
Ivan Karl, the Acting the director of Film Center Serbia, has stated in Cannes that “it is striking that none of the countries at the Southeast European stand, unfortunately, has a film neither in the main nor in the secondary programs of the Cannes Film Festival”.
That was the reason to hold a panel at the initiative of the Bulgarian National Film Center where, as Karl says, “it was agreed that we must work together much more, lobby, exchange information and invest in order to be more visible individually and together.” This is increasingly becoming the law of large numbers and a kind of closed club for large markets”.
Under the auspices of this year’s regional pavilion – South-East European Pavilion in Cannes, Film Center Serbia has prepared a digital catalog titled “Films and film projects – Cannes 2025” in which the latest Serbian feature films are presented, both those that had their premiere in 2024 as well as new projects in production and post-production phases, whose premiere is excpected by the end of 2025 or the beginning of the next year. Also, FCS has presented a brochure titled “Serbian Film Industry in 2024”, which provides statistics on film production, viewership numbers, cinema statistics and other up to date information related to the Serbian film industry.
