At the recently concluded 19th European Film Festival in Seville, Nikola Spasić won the award for the best director of the first or second film. The Serbian director was awarded for the film Kristina, which was supported by Film Center Serbia, and which competed in the “New Wave” selection.

The festival in Seville is one of the most respected Spanish film festivals, and the condition for participation in the program is that the film has not been shown before on the territory of Spain. The festival is also known for the fact that nominations for the EFA Awards, also known as the European Oscars, are announced every year at the festival.

The film has had its world premiere at the famous FID festival in Marseille in July of this year, while the screening in Seville was the Spanish premiere and the second festival where this work was shown. It is based on a real person who plays herself in the film, and the synopsis reveals that Kristina is a transgender sex worker who lives with a cat, collects antiques and goes to non-hypnotic regression sessions. After one session, she meets Marko and platonic love is born between these two people whose chance encounters are yet to come.

The main role in the film is played by Kristina Milosavljević, the screenwriter is Milanka Gvoić and the director of photography is Igor Lazić. Milanka Gvoić and Nikola Spasić are also producers, and the film was produced by the company “Rezon” from Novi Sad, and the distributor of the film is the company “Reason8” from London.

At the end of November, the film will have its Italian premiere in the main competition program of the Torino Film Festival and alsi its national premiere at the Author’s Film Festival in Belgrade in the “Brave Balkans” program. Immediately after, at the beginning of December, there will be a second showing in Spain, at the Lanzarote Film Festival in the Canary Islands, as well as screenings at the closing of the Merlinka festival in Belgrade and Novi Sad and at the opening of the Euro In Festival as part of the program presented by “Filmski Front”.
