Veteran Serbian actor Radoš Bajić has won the “Golden Diploma” for the best male role at the 35th “Golden Knight” International Festival in Sevastopol for his role as Stanoje Reljić in the film Guardian of the Icon of St. George, directed by Jelena Bajić Jočić. The award was given by an international jury in competition with more than a hundred works from Russia, Serbia, Iran, India, Belarus, Germany, France, Spain, Turkey and other countries.

“I am convinced that this film, as a work that speaks of truth, justice, kindness and the struggle for a life worthy of man, will be arouse great interest, at the festivals, as well as among the domestic audience, mostly young people, who are the lynchpin in the encouraging process of rising national consciousness”, Radoš Bajić said on the occasion.

Guardian of the Icon of St. George, inspired by true events, follows the life of Stanoje Reljić from the slopes of Mount Radan, who fights for the preservation of faith, identity and dignity. Next to Radoš Bajić, the film stars Miona Marković, Aleksandar Đurica, Branko Janković, Slaviša Čurović, Vjera Mujović, Nedeljko Bajić and others.

The film was produced by Contrast Studios, with the support of the Provincial Secretariat for Culture of AP Vojvodina, the City of Niš, the City of Zaječar and the Municipality of Medveđa. The producer is Nedeljko Bajić, and the distributor is Art Vista. The Serbia premiere and the beginning of the theatrical distribution are planned for September this year.
