Guardian of the Icon of St. George, a film directed by Jelena Bajić Jočić, based on the script by Radoš Bajić, will have its premiere at the Moscow International Film Festival, which will be held this year from April 16th to April 23rd. It is one of the oldest and most respected film festivals in the world, founded in 1934, showcasing significant films and gathering prominent film makers from all over the globe.
The film is inspired by true events and follows the fate of Stanoje Reljić, played by Serbian veteran actor and director Radoš Bajić. Stanoje is a man living on the slopes of Mount Radan in southern Serbia, whose life becomes a symbol of the struggle for survival, dignity and the right to freedom. Through his personal story, the film deals with universal values - faith, honor and perseverance in defending one’s own identity and hearth.
Miona Marković, Aleksandar Đurica, Branko Janković, Slaviša Čurović, Vjera Mujović, Nedeljko Bajić, Aleksandar Filimonović, Čubrilo Čupić, Strahinja Bičanin, Miroslav Jović, Marko Radojević, Jovana Popović and others Serbian actors also playe roles in the film.
The film was produced by Contrast Studios, with the support of the Secretariat for Culture of AP Vojvodina, the City of Niš, the City of Zaječar and the Municipality of Medveđa, where the film was shot. The producer is Nedeljko Bajić, and the co-producers are the Niš Cultural Center, the National Theater of the Timočka Krajina – Center for Culture “Zoran Radmilović” and BN Television from Bijeljina, while the distributor of the film is “Art Vista”.
