At the award ceremony of the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival, held at the National Theater in Sarajevo, films with Serbian participation won three Heart of Sarajevo awards, while another award went to a film co-produced by Serbia. The festival was closed with an award ceremony and a screening of the restored version of the Oscar-winning film No Man’s Land by Danis Tanović.
The most significant recognition among the films with Serbian participation was won by To Hold a Mountain directed by Biljana Tutorov and Petar Glomazić, which received the Heart of Sarajevo for the best feature-length documentary film. It is a co-production between Serbia, France, Montenegro, Slovenia and Croatia, and the award in Sarajevo also qualifies the film for an Oscar nomination. The jury especially highlighted the epic photography of the film and the touching portrait of two women and their disappearing way of life, as well as their struggle to preserve the mountain.

The heart of Sarajevo for the best short feature film went to the film No One Said Anything directed by Tamara Todorović, a co-production between Serbia, France, Slovenia and Croatia. The jury awarded the film for its ability to build believable characters in a short form and gradually develop an atmosphere of tension, highlighting the certainty of the director’s vision and the subtlety of the script. This film has also now become eligible for an Oscar nomination.
The film “17” directed by Kosara Mitić, co-produced by North Macedonia, Serbia and Slovenia, won two awards. Eva Kostić won the Heart of Sarajevo for best actress for her role in this film, and “17” also won the Special Award for Promoting Gender Equality. The jury awarded the prize for the leading female because of her intense, raw and emotionally convincing performance, while the film itself was recognized for the way it deals with sexual abuse, the trauma of young girls and the importance of female solidarity.
This year’s awards confirm the success of films and authors from Serbia at the 32nd Sarajevo Film Festival, where Serbian productions and co-productions were represented in several competition and supporting programs. All three awarded films were supported by Film Center Serbia.
