The experimental film Uploaded Memories, by Igor M. Toholj, will be shown as part of the De Memoria program at O-FEST – the International Festival of Experimental Art in Moscow, which will be held from September 10th to September 13th 2026. The “De Memoria” program at the festival is dedicated to works dealing with the theme of memory, and the film will be screened on September 13 at the Pionir cinema.
Uploaded Memories is a 19 minute experimental film created in 2023 in the co-production of Serbia and Croatia. The film reinterprets memory and its cinematic manifestation through the process of visual automatism, using fragments from the author’s private Super 8 archive. The material, created over 15 years in the area of the former Yugoslavia, Europe and Africa, in the editing process connects human choice and algorithmic processing, while the voice generated with the help of artificial intelligence introduces the motif of false memory – confabulation.

The film was supported at the competition of the Film Center Serbia for co-financing the production of experimental film, as well as at the competition of the Croatian Audiovisual Center for minority co-production.
Igor M. Toholj, born in 1968 in Belgrade, is the author of about thirty experimental and documentary films. Uploaded Memories has so far been screened at festivals in Serbia and Europe, where it received three special awards – at the Experimental Superstars festivals in Novi Sad, the Meta Cannes Film Festival in Belgrade and the Kinoskop Film Festival in Belgrade.
